Mon May 1 1865 Miss Sisson commenced to board here.
Thu May 4 Towards night Bell & I called over to Mrs.. Post's.
Mon May 8 Afternoon Mother, I & baby went up to Mrs.. Nabby LaPlaces & spent the afternoon. A son born to Gilbert Wms. [Edward].
Tue May 9 Very stormy. Teachers did not have any school. Afternoon Mother & I put in a bed quilt, to quilt, one Bell is to present to Oscar.
Thu May 11 Teacher finished boarding in the morning. Uncle Jacob called at night.
Fri May 12 Night Uncle Jacob & Aunt Emeline came here.
Sat May 13 Received two letters from Henry.
Sun May 14 Night, Uncle Jacob & Aunt Emeline left. News came that Jeff. Davis is captured. Wm Martin buried, died in the Insane Retreat on Friday night.
Mon May 15 Pleasant. Mrs.. Brockway plowed in garden.
Tue May 16 Morning Mother & I came over to Aunt Mary Ann's called at Mrs.. Wm Brockway's & went from there over. Spent the afternoon at Mrs.. Edward Brockway's, night at Aunt Mary Ann's.
Wed May 17 Spent the forenoon at Aunt Orrice's, afternoon and night at Mrs.. Lucy Ann Brockway's. Bell commenced to teach school in Joshuatown.
Thu May 18 Spent the forenoon at Kate's, afternoon at Uncle Horace's, night agin at Lucy Ann's.
Fri May 19 Spent the day & night at Lucy Ann's.
Sat May 20 Spent the day till 4 o'clock at Lucy Ann's, then came home with Oscar. Henry came home in the evening, with a boil on his neck.
Sun May 21 Baby weighed 13 lbs.
Mon May 22 Stormy day and night.
Tue May 23 Stormy. Henry left in the evening for Hartford. Board paid till today.
Wed May 24 We washed and put on a bed quilt to quilt.
Thu May 25 Aunt Emma Ely spent the day here. Uncle Wm, Uncle Calvin, Aunt Orrice & Heber's wife took tea here.
Fri May 26 Morning Mother & I went to Essex, took dinner at Aunt Eliza's, spent the afternoon at Mrs.. Pratt's and night at Aunt Eliza's. Mother spent the night at Aunt Rhoda's.
Sat May 27 Spent the day and night at Aunt Philenda's.
Sun May 28 Stormy, spent the day & night at P's. (Gl----is) baby, Edward Gilbert, weighed 9 lbs 9 ozs, 3 weeks old tomorrow morning.
Monday May 29 Morning Millie Post brought me home, found two letters from Henry. Miss Sisson did not come to teach as she is not well & has given up her school.
Wed May 31 Ellen & Loss came down. Mother, Ellen & I spent the afternoon at Mrs.. Post. Mrs.. Ezra Post & Mrs.. Julius Andrews there.
Thu Jun 1 National fast. Cleaned my room, received a letter from Henry
. Fri Jun 2 Mother cleaned parlor.
Sat Jun 3 Pleasant. Mother & Father Lord spent the afternoon here.
Sun Jun 4 Very warm. Loss & Ellen called down with their new colt.
Wed Jun 7 Mother & I came to Hartford on Steamer Sunshine.
Thur Jun 8 Mother went back.
Fri Jun 16 Went to ride, took Mary & the baby. Went to Brockway's farm for cream & a short cake for supper. Mr. & Mrs. Ely went on N.Y.
Thur Jun 22 1865 Wallace Russel drowned.
Fri Jun 23 Night Ellen came to the (slly) v house.
Sat Jun 24 Morning Ellen & I went shopping and afternoon I came home with her to East Haddam, came on the Granite State, arrived on the mount before nine o'clock. Pleasant.
Tue Jun 27 Was sick last night, am better today.
Wed Jun 28 Morning received a letter from Henry. Warm weather.
Thur Jun 29 Ellen & I finished off a pair of pants, we had been making for Loss. Night Loss brought me home.
