Onboard Transport late of New York
March 22nd, 1862

Sunday 12 o'clock a.m.

We are outside of Sandy Hook. We expect to go yesterday, but the weather is such we did not go. We are in the Ocean for a sure thing. All is well. I am very glad for we have been lying outside the Hook since Wednesday. We received 2 - 32 pound guns this morning (Sunday) to protect ourselves with. I shall write again at Roanoke Island.

My head is well and I am enjoyinq myself as well as I can be expected. There is rollinq but it does not seem agoing to leave.

The call "all letters quick". My respects to Father, Mother, B & S's, and my sincere love to you. Do not worry about me. Write often for it is lonesome. I will be home soon as they say New Orleans is taken.

Goodbye. With all my love,

Your Husand

Henry
