Thur April 1 Pleasant. Henry came home in the evening.
Fri April 2 Pleasant. Morning soon clouded up and during the evening rained very hard. Henry went to Hamburgh and it rained so he spent the night there. Carlos & Lewis went to East Haddam to an Auction and Mother went with them and we went out to the Mt.
Sat April 3 1869 Cloudy most of the day. Henry came home to dinner, then was gone away till midnight.
Sun April 4 A snow squall between 3 & 4 P.M. Mother came home from East Haddam.
Mon April 5 A very windy day. State election, Henry was elected as first representative of this town by a majority of 71. J.T. LaPlace was elected 2nd representative by a majority of 68, a majority of 69 went for Jewell for Gov.
Tue April 6 Another cloudy day.
Wed April 7 A pleasant day. Oscar & Nett spent the day here. Mrs Shippee & Freelove spent the afternoon here. A shower towards night. Henry came home on the Silver Star.
Thur April 8 Pleasant morning, shower during the afternoon. Henry & Archie & I went to Lyme to Father Lord's.
Fri April 9 Windy. Sarah & I called on Leona DeWolf.
Sat April 10 Cold & windy, we came home.
Sun April 11 Cloudy. Loss, Winona & Eddie came down. Eddie has come to stay.
Mon April 12 Pleasant. Henry went to Essex & back.
Tue April 13 Showery. Henry went to Hamburgh and back.
Wed April 14 Bell, Henry, Edna & I went to Hartford & back on Silver Star. Henry & I took dinner at the United States Hotel. Bell stopped at East Haddam on our way down.
Thur April 15 Pleasant. Henry, Archie & I went to Hamburgh & back, took dinner at Nett's. Henry & I both took sick from taking teething medicine. Mother went to Essex & back. Bell came down on Silver Star.
Fri April 16 Pleasant. Henry & Lewis went to Essex & back. A grand display of Northern Lights last evening.
Sat April 17 Pleasant. Lewis & Eddie caught 9 shad last night, the first they have caught this season.
Sun April 18 Pleasant. Archie, Henry & I went to Hamburgh to church.
Mon April 19 Foggy morning, clear & windy afternoon. Called at Mr Jonathan LaPlace's and Mr Rosewell LaPlace's.
Tue April 20 Freshet rising.
Wed April 21 Thunder shower in the morning. Clear & windy afternoon & the freshet rising.
Thur April 22 Freshet still rising.
Fri April 23 Freshet very high. Henry, Archie & i went to Hamburgh by the way of Mt Archer, as we could not get there any other way. One place we went into water over our axles. Stopped at the factory, Mr Rathburn.
Sat April 24 Freshet fell little. Oscar took dinner here.
Sun April 25 Freshet falling.
Mon April 26 Very pleasant.
Tue April 27 Pleasant. Cloudy at night. Henry, Bell & I went up onto Capt. Lord's "Neck" and gathered trailing Arbutus.
Wed April 28 Very pleasant. Loss came after Mother, Ellen has a son born this A.M. Bell & Edna went to Hartford to take their third music lesson.
Thur April 29 Henry went to Hartford. I ironed for Mrs Warner. A rainy day.
