Fri. Dec 1 A pleasant day. I went to school and came home at night.
Sat Dec 2 Was a clear but cold day. Mother, Father, Ernest & Lewis went toHamburgh and spent the day. Oscar whitewashed the kitchen and I partly cleaned it. In the evening Mr. Frederick Snow called here
Sun Dec 3 It snowed most of the day and at night it was quite deep, in the evening it rained.
Mon Dec 4 In the morning I started early for school, it was cold and snowed a little, the snow was not very deep on the ground, at night cleared off cold.
Tue Dec 5 It was cold and clear. I went to school. The river froze over last night.
Wed Dec 6 Another pleasant day. I went to school. Capt. Ansel Southworth and wife from Deep River and Mr. Warner from N.Y. was to Mrs. Tyles and spent the afternoon and a part of the evening. Mr. Young called and took Emily out a sleighing.
Thu Dec 7 It was cloudy most of the day and cold. Snowed a little last night. I went to school, in the evening I worked on my dress.
Sat Dec 9 It was not quite as cold as it had been. In the morning I started for home. I crossed the river on the ice. I arrived home about 11 o'clock. I partly made my dress.
Sun Dec 10 It was cloudy most of the day. At night I went down to Mrs. T's.
Tue Dec 12 A pleasant day. I went to school. Dr. (Hearvy) spent the evening at Mrs. T's.
Thu Dec 14 A pleasant day. I went to school. Gilbert Howard a cousin in Fair Haven died last Wednesday night.
Fri Dec 15 It was cloudy most of the day. I went to school in the evening went to meeting to the school house Mr. Gallup preached.
Sat Dec 16 A pleasant day. In the morning I started for home, had got but a little ways when there was a carriage overtook me with Leander Mack and Leora Chapel in it and I got in and rode up to Mr. (Trian's) Heber came over after us, we came part way across on the ice and part way in a boat. Mr. Strictland the teacher was boarding here.
Sun Dec 17 It was cloudy most of the day. About half past 3 Leora and I went down to Essex. It snowed all the time we were going down. We went part way across the river on the ice and the rest of the way in a boat.
Fri Dec 22 It was cloudy most of the day. It was composition day. I wrote one on " A Mother's Love" after school I came up to Mr. Selden Posts and took tea and in the evening Mr. Ezra Post came home with me.
Mon Dec 25 It was cloudy most of the day, clear at night but muddy walking. There was no school so I stayed at home and helped Mother wash. At night I went down to Essex. Heber went down with me and we went to a Fair in the Methodist Church. Oscar went too.
Wed Dec 27 Was a cloudy unpleasant day, rained some. I went to school and went home with Philenda and spent the night.
Thu Dec 28 A foggy unpleasant day. I went to school and went home with Philenda again, we spent the evening at Mr. Hiram Tucker's.
Fri Dec 29 Was another unpleasant day. I went to school and after school came up to Mrs. Tileys and spent the night.
Sat Dec 30 Was a cold day, the wind blew very hard. In the morning I came up to Mrs. Post's. I thought I could not get across, so stayed there until after dinner then came down to the river and found the ice strong enough to come across.
Sun Dec 31 Was the last day of A.D. 1854 and my 18 birth day. It was a pleasant day. Father made me a present of a 2 1/2 dollar gold piece, and Heber made me a present of a pocket bible. Marion Chapel called here, she went to Essex. Jane Harrison & Harriet LaPlace and Caroline called here.
