
Fri Dec l Cold. I spent afternoon at Kate's & night at Lucy Ann's. Henry came over.
Sat Dec 2 Cold. Spent part of the day at Uncle Horace's & Elmer's. Mr Hamilton & family started for home, by way of Mr (Be-----) & Shore Line & Valley Railroad. Newton brought me home to-night.
Sun Dec 3 Cloudy, came not quite as cold. Mr Brockway Warner buried, aged 80 years.
Mon Dec 4 Cold, did not wash. Rained, ice partly broken up in the river.
Tue Dec 5 Cold. Oscar came over & Henry & Eddie went into the woods with him and cut wood. Cut a pair of pants for Archie & partly made them.
Wed Dec 6 Another cold day. Henry, Oscar & Eddie went into the woods again. We washed.
Thu Dec 7 Not quite as cold. Edna went to Hamburgh. Belle 10 months old & weighs 18 3/4 lbs.
Fri Dec 8 Pleasant. Henry went to Hartford this A.M. News came that Belle LaPlace (Varion) was dead. Loss came down. Edna came home to-night.
Sat Dec 9 Henry came home this A.M. from Centerbrook, crossed the river on the ice. Finished off Edna's dress.
Sun Dec 10 Loss & Ellen came down. Edna went back with them to go from there to New Britain.
Mon Dec 11 Belle LaPlace (Varrion) buried. She was 23 years old, died of consumption & left a baby 3 weeks old. Nett & Oscar came home with Mother from funeral.
Tue Dec 12 Very pleasant. Henry, Archie & Eddie went into the woods chopping. Nett & I sewed.
Wed Dec 13 Cloudy morning, snowed some during the day & rained some.
Thu Dec 14 Snow on the ground. Oscar & Nett went home. Henry went to Hamburgh & back. Received a letter from Ellen & Lizzie. I made Father Lord a visit for Christmas.
Fri Dec 15 Cloudy. Henry started for Hartford this noon. We washed. I cut a pair of pants for Archie and sewed on them some. Mrs Harrison died last night.
Sat Dec 16 Pleasant. Mrs Harrison buried this P.M.
Sun Dec 17 Snowed in the morning, remianed little cloudy rest of the day. Henry came home about noon. Archie and I called up to Mr Warner's & Mrs Damons.
Mon Dec 18 Rained this P.M. Calcultated to go to Hartford & back, did not. Could not cross the river on ice, not very good.
Tue Dec 19 Libbie & Henry started for Hartford at 7 A.M., crossed the river in a boat with Eddie. Walked to Deep River and took the cars and bought Christmas presents in Htfd. for the Christmas Tree at Grandma Lords. Commenced snowing about noon in Hartford, arrived back at D.R. in P.M. Mr Worthington brought us down in a sleigh.
Wed Dec 20 Cold and clear. Wind blows. Oscar came over to go to Saybrook with Tim Warner after twine for net, Oakum Mill not running yet.
Thu Dec 21 Very cold. Oscar & Tim Warner have gone to Saybrook, good crossing on the ice.
Fri Dec 22 Cloudy. Snowed this P.M. and to-night. Henry & Archie went to Essex & back.
Sat Dec 23 Snowed little & rained some & froze some, snowed last night.
Sun Dec 24 Pleasant, rained hard last night & snow all disappeared. Loss came down & took dinner.
Mon Dec 25 Foggy morning, cloudy most of the afternoon. Capt. (Cla------) Hayden, Nate Damon & Henry drew us across the river on the ice in a boat and we rode to Grandma Lord's where all the family met and we had a Christmas tree in the evening. I got a pair of slippers from Archie & Ivory (memoranda) from Henry. (P----------) toilet set from Libbie with other presents.
Tue Dec 26 Cloudy morning, rain to-night. Left Centerbrook at 8:20 A.M. on the Valley Road for Waterbury via Hartford where arrived about 1 P.M., found Belle well &c.
Wed Dec 27 Pleasant. Belle most sick with a cold.
Thu Dec 28 Very pleasant for the season. Belle & Mr H went to Hartford & back, saw Henry there. Mr & Mrs Burnett & Frankie spent the evening here.
Fri Dec 29 Snowed. Belle & I took a walk out this A.M. to get a polonaise (pattern) for her, cut the Polonaise this P.M. Mrs Burnett 35 years old, I made her a present of a blue silk neck tie with blue tassels on the end.
Sat Dec 30 Cloudy. Mr & Mrs Burnett spent the evening here. As it is my birthday tomorrow Mrs B made me a present of a bouquet, handkercheif box & a collar.
Sun Dec 31 Rainy A.M. 35 Years old. Belle made me a present of a dozen nice plated nut picks. I wrote a letter to Mrs Fred Ely, Mother and Henry.
