Thu. Jan Married the 18 of Dec. Caroline LaPlace and Timothy P. Warner both of Lyme & married in Uncasville.
Thu 16 Jan J.S. Lord & Miss (Meach) were married.
Married Jan 22 1862 H.S. Lord and myself E. A. Ely.
Thu Jan 23 Henry and I went to Lyme.
Sunday Jan 26 Married Wm Tooker & Mary (Caperon) of Uncasville.
Mon 27 Henry & I took a ride home & back. Henry took the 3:10 train to New Haven, he is Sutler's clerk in the 13 Reg. C.V. in New Haven.
Tue 28 Charlie Champlin of Essex and Miss Spencer of Westbrook were married.
Wed 29 John Scisson and Wid. Hines married.
Fri 31 Mr. & Mrs. Lord escorted me home from Lyme.
Mon 3 Henry came home from New Haven.
Tue Feb 4 Evening Henry & I took a sleigh ride to Sterling City and back called at Aunt Mary Ann's.
Wed 5 We took a sleigh ride to Essex & Westbrook. Henry went to New Haven on the Owl Express.
Sat 8 Received word from Henry to go to New Haven. Amos took me to Lyme & I took the 3:10 P.M. train. Henry & Harriet Tooker met me in the depot. Henry went with me to his boarding place on Jefferson St., Mr.. Stricklands.
Sun 9 Went to church in the afternoon at St. Paul's.
Thu 13 Spent the forenoon at Mrs.. Devlins with Mrs.. Jane & Miss Celia Pratt, afternoon at Mrs.. (------).
Fri 14 Louise Strickland & I went to Fair Haven.
Saturday Feb 22 (Grant) Stillman & Col. Russel's funeral attended.
Thu 27 Henry & I called on Mrs. (Pierpont).
Sat Mar 1 Henry & I came home from New Haven.
Mon 3 Attended Mr.. Ezekeil Brockway's funeral, aged 86.
Tue 4 Henry & Heber left for New Haven.
Sat night 12 o'clock Henry came home, Sunday afternoon went to church in Hamburgh.
Mon 10 Henry went to East Haddam & back to New Haven.
Wed. Received a dispatch for me to go to Lyme: went there and received another to go to New Haven went on the midnight train.
Thu 13 Attended Edgar Stanard's funeral in Fair Haven.
Sat 15 Came to Lyme to Mrs.. Lord's.
Sunday Came home. Henry came in the night - did not expect him.
Monday 1 o'clock Henry bade me good bye on his departure for Ship Island.
Thu 20 Received a letter from Henry. The Reg. left New Haven Monday night for N.Y.
Sat received another letter from Henry, they sailed in the Ship City of New York, from N.Y. Thursday morning.
Tue 25 Received two letters from Henry, they left Sandy Hook Sunday afternoon.
Sun April 13 A pleasant day, called at Mrs.. Damon's & Antoinette Brockway's Took a walk on the hill.
Mon. 14 Another pleasant day. Made some calls, called on Miss Warner the new school teacher, who commenced her school today.
Tue 15 Finished shirt No. 2. Called on Annie in the afternoon. Commenced to work on a pair of pillow cases.
Wed April 16 The Union Society met here.
Thu. 17 Mailed my 6th letter to Henry. Attended Society at Antoinette's. Received two letters from Henry mailed in Key West, Fla.,
April 9, written 7. Emma Peck married.
Good Friday. Bell and I took a walk into the woods and got some moss.
Sat. April 19, 1862 Mailed my 7th letter to Henry. Mrs.. Dixon spent the afternoon here. Belle and I went out to Hamburgh to Aunt Mary Ann's to spend the night.
Sun 20 Bell and I went to church, took supper at Aunt Mary Ann's, then came home. A freshet in the river. Received a letter from Henry.
Mon 21 The freshet is still rising and is quite high. Quilted a comfortable.
Tue April 22 Mr.. George Tiffany buried aged 48 years. Freshet at it's height.
Wed 23 Washed. Uncle Calvin here stringing seines.
Thu 24 Mailed my 8th letter to Henry.
Fri April 25 Went to Antionette's and sewed for her.
Sat 26 Sewed. Mother went to Hamburgh and back.
Sun 27 Staid at home had a bad cold.
Mon April 28, 1862 Washed. News came that Mrs.. (Giliver) died last Wednesday. Also news that New Orleans is taken.
Tue 29 Mailed my 9th letter to Henry. Received a letter from Henry, dated Ship Island, 13 April. They arrived on Ship Island the 12 of April.
Wed 30 Spent the afternoon at Mrs.. (David) Tooker's.
