Thur. May 1 1862 Received a letter from Mrs.. Lee. Society at Lenora Chapels.
Fri May 2 A very rainy day. Mother and Isabell most sick. Sarah S arrived from Hartford.
Sat.3 The Sterling arrived from Hartford.
Sun May 4 Sterling sailed this morning. Evening Bell went to Mt. (Parnassus) to commence to teach school tomorrow. A pleasant day.
Mon 5 Washed. Bell commences school in East Haddam. Nett B in Lyme. Lauren Tooker in Uncasville, Mary (--------) in East Lyme, Lizzie Lord in Hamburgh.
Tue 6 Mailed my 10th letter to Henry. Spent the afternoon at Lenora Chapels.
Wed 7 Election day. Finished off a pair of socks for Henry. Night Mrs.. Ezekiel Brockway died, aged 75.
Thur. 8 Ellen quilted a comfortable.
Fri 9 Spent the afternoon at Mrs.. Zeb Warner's with Lenora Chapel.
Sat May 10 Went to the grave of Mrs.. Brockway.
Sun 11 Afternoon attended a lecture at the school house by Miss Beckwith.
Mon 12 Washed in the morning. At 1/2 past 10 came on board the schooner Sterling with Mother to go to Hartford. At night anchored at the foot of the straits. A fleet of over 20 of us started together. Mailed my 11th letter to Henry.
Tue May 13 1862 At 12 midday went up into the straits and anchored till 5 P.M. then came to Middletown and anchored for the night. News. The Merrimack blown up by the Rebels. Norfolk taken. Great fire on L.I. in N. Y. and the city of Troy N.Y.
Wed May 14 Remained in Middletown till 4 o'clock P.M. then came as far as Rocky Hill where we have anchored for the night.
Thur May 15 Left Rocky Hill at 2 P.M. arrived Hartford at 6 P.M. Spent the night at Mrs.. Lee's.
Fri May 16 Went shopping all day. Called on Mrs.. Gates evening and Mrs.. Rice's.
Sat May 17 Left Hartford at 11 o'clock A.M. with head wind, arrived home at 1/2 past 7 P.M. Found Addie Moore and Bell home and a letter from Henry. Commenced to embroider slippers.
Sun May 18 Addie and Bell went back to Mt. Parnarssus towards night.
Mon May 19 Washed, cut a dress for Mrs.. Annie Warner. Mailed my 12th letter to Henry. Sterling sailed
. Tue May 20 Tuesday sewed at Ellen Brockway's. Received a letter from Henry mailed in New Haven.
Wed May 21 Ironed & sewed some. Lewis called for me in the evening and I came home with him. Arrived at Mt. Parnarssus at 10:30 P.M.
Thur May 22 Helped Addie quilt. Addie Moore, Nancy Mack & I called on Bell's school in the afternoon, she has 17 pupils.
Fri May 23. Helped Addie quilt.
Sat May 24 Helped Addie quilt most of the day. Night Loss took us to Millington to Willis (C--------).
Sun May 25 Spent the day at Mr.. (C--------) came home at night and found 3 letters from Henry from Ship Island and 2 from the Mississippi River.
Mon May 26 Mailed my 13th letter to Henry.
Tue May 27 A rainy day. I sewed.
Wed May 28 Sewed at Mr.. Wm Brockway's for Mrs.. Reed Brockway. Angustus Tiffany and Miss Comstock married.
Thu May 29 Quilted a comfortable forenoon, afternoon sewed. Married Oct. 3 1861 Nathan Reynolds and Caroline Warner.
Fri May 30 Mrs.. Warner & I spent the afternoon at Mrs.. Reynolds. Bell came home at night, also Heber with a sore boil.
Sat May 31 Went to Essex. Received a sacthel of goods from Henry sent from New Orleans, with letters.
