July 1869

Thur July 1 Cloudy.
Fri July 2 Henry came home to-night. Board paid to this time.
Sat July 3 Henry went to Essex & came home with the team. Showery during the afternoon.
Sun July 4 Pleasant, considerable warm. Bell, Lewis, Edna. Archie, Henry and I went to church, went over in a boat. Edna went home with Loss, Winona & Millie.
Mon July 5A very pleasant day & cool for the season. Henry & Archie went to Lyme with the team & came up in a boat. Lewis & Eddie went to Essex in the evening to see the fireworks, the rest of us stayed home.
Tue July 6 Another pleasant day. Henry went to Hartford on Silver Star. Mother went to Essex. Bell went up to see Adelaide.
Wed July 7 A beautiful day. Bell & I came to Hartford on Silver Star. Stopped at the U.S. Hotel. Evening called on Dr. & Celia Thomton, Jefferson St.
Thur July 8 A pleasant day. Morning visited the House of Representatives. P.M. visited the Senate, with the Hon. (-) H. (Lentworth) who introduced us to Mr (Amspm Emmons,) Senator. who is a cousin of Father's.
Fri July 9 Cloudy. Rained hard during the afternoon. Had a introduction to Mr & Mrs Rockwell of Winstead. Evening 5 of us (cousins) went to the Opera House and saw Com. (Tooli) & sister
Sat July 10 1869 Morning Bell went to Thompsonville. The General Assembly adjourned at 11 A.M. Orvill H. Platt, speaker of the house, from Meriden, was presented with a very handsome watch & chain. Came home on silver Star.
Mon July 12 Henry & Archie went to Lyme and back.
Wed July 14 Cloudy. Henry & I went to Hartford on Silver Star, then Thompsonville & back on the cars & stopped to the U.S. Hotel. Bell came back with us.
Thur July 15 Showery morning, cloudy P.M. Came from Hartford to Providence to the steamer City of Newport to Newport and stopped at the Ocean House.
Fri July 16 Morning took a ride to the Beach at the steamer Bay Queen at 11 A.M. for Rocky Point. Found Gov. Jewell & the City Guard of Hartford there, left then on the same boat at 5 P.M. for Providence, which place we left at 10:30 for Lyme. A very warm day.
Sat July 17 Arrived in Lyme at 12:25 last night, stopped at the Hotel over night and Willie brought us home we we arrived home about 1 o'clock.
Tue July 20 P.M. Henry, Archie & I came home with Father Lord.
Wed July 21 A pleasant day. Henry & Willie took a sail to Cornfield Point. Evening took a ride into the street with Henry.
Thur July 22 Morning Henry & I took a ride to Rodgers Lake. P.M. Henry, Archie & I took a ride onto Black Hall Beach and gathered some shells. A pleasant day & had a good time.
Fri July 23 Morning Merritt, Willie & Henry went to Plum Island fishing.
Sat July 24 Morning Sarah & I took a ride to Aunt Amies & took dinner, arrived home about 2 P.M. & found Merritt ,Willie and Henry here. They had a pleasant time over, but did not find fish plenty. Mr Peter Pierson buried.
Sun July 25 Warm. Just at night Sarah & I took a walk to Bucky Brook Jerico & met Henry, Merritt& Willie, came home tired.
Mon July 26 Showery. Sewed some for myself & some for Sarah.
Tue July 27 Morning called on Mrs John Conklin. Warm day.
Wed July 28 Morning we came home. Came from Lyme Ferry with Oscar.
Thur July 29 Showery morning, afternoon cloudy. Went to launching at Comstock's ferry. The schooner Silver Branerd was launched & we went off in her.
Fri July 30 Pleasant.
Sat July 31 Pleasant. Am not feeling very well today.
