Mon May 3 1869 Cloudy most of the day.
Tue May 4 Cloudy some, shower during the day. Henry & I went to Hartford on Silver Star. Stopped at United States Hotel. Elmer Ely & Fannie Reynolds married.
Wed May 5 Election day & a very pleasant one. A grand parade here. Gov. Marshall Jewell look very well & happy.
Thur May 6 Another pleasant day. Henry and I came home at night.
Fri May 7 Mrs Martha Andrews Brown a son born.
Sat May 8 Henry, Archie, Bell & I went to Essex
. Sun May 9 Pleasant. At night Henry, Archie & I took a ride over (Brush) Hill.
Mon May 10 Pleasant. Have a hard cold.
Tue May 11 Pleasant. Henry went to Hartford. Mother went over to Aunt Mary Ann's. She is very sick and Mrs (Meltter) was there to see her today.
Wed May 12 Bell & Edna went to Hartford & Mother went to East Haddam on Silver Star. One of Addie Moore's twins died last week.
Thur May 13 Mother went over to Aunt Mary Ann's.
Fri May 14 Henry came home on Silver Star.
Sat May 15 Pleasant. P.M. Henry, Archie and I went to Lyme in a boat and went to Grandma Lord's. Shower in the evening.
Sun May 16 Pleasant morning, showery afternoon. We came home at noon.
Mon May 17 Henry went to Hartford.
Tue May 18 Bell & I took a ride to Hamburgh and back. Called on Mr & Mrs Elmer Ely & some others.
Wed May 19 A rainy day. Bell & Edna went to Hartford. Bell stopped in Middletown.
Thur May 20 Pleasant. Mother & I went to Hamburgh. Bell came home. Expected Libbie Lord today, but received a letter from here saying she was not well enoug
h. Fri May 21 Mother went to Deep River. Henry came home.
Sat May 22 Uncle Jacob came home with Mother.
Sun May 23 Pleasant. Henry, Archie and I went to Hamburgh to church. Mr John R. Beebe died, aged 46 years, left a wife & 5 children.
Mon May 24 Pleasant. Attended Mr Beebe's funeral at 2 P.M.
Wed May 26 Went to Hamburgh, P.M. commenced to paper my room.
Thur May 27 Finished my room, all but a little, which I had not enough paper for.
Fri May 28 Cool & cloudy. Rained at night. Bell, Archie and I went to Hartford & back on Silver Star. Henry came home with us, took dinner at the United States Hotel.
Sat May 29 Mother went over to Aunt Mary Ann's. Henry painted his buggy.
Sun May 30 Mother came home at night.
Mon May 31 Cloudy day. Henry striped his buggy and went to Deep River & Hadlyme.
