Fri Sep 1 Have a sore eye so can not sew, will knit for Orrice.
Sat Sep 2 Received two letters from Henry. Bell came home at night. Ellen & Minerva came with her. Eye no better.
Tue Sep 5 Mother taken sick.
Wed Sep 6 Morning Dr. came to see Mother, she is better.
Thur Sep 7 Warm weather.
Sat Sep 9 Mother dressed for the first time since Tuesday. I baked.
Sun Sep 10 Ellen & Edna came down.
Mon Sep 11 Argo arrived from N. Y. I was discharged as housekeeper.
Mon Sep 18 Argo arrived from Hartford. Brought me a letter, Father's photograph & other things.
Tue Sep 19 Libbie Ely spent the night here.
Fri Sep 22 Lizzie Rich buried.
Sat Sep 23 Harriet Warner & Ellen Ely spent the afternoon here. Archie 7 months old.
Wed Sep 27 Mother & I went across the river, hired a team and went to Saybrook Ferry to Father Lord's, took the baby with us, called aft Essex.
Thur Sep 28 Bell & I went to the campground on a clam bake with a Saybrook Ferry party. Went away at 10 & arrived home at six. Left the baby with Mother.
Sat Sep 30 Evening Eddie & I went to Deep river to meet Henry's boat, did not reach there till 1 o'clock Sunday morn.
Sun Oct 1 Pleasant weather about time.
Mon Oct 2 Took the Sunshine with Henry to Essex and arrived in Hartford between 6 &7
Thur Oct 5 Came to Deep River on the Sunshine & came from there home with Bell.
Fri Oct 6 1865 Father & Mother Lord came up & spent part of the day & I went back with them. Bought me a pony of Capt. Otis & drove it home. Paid $100.00 for pony, buggy & harness. Left Saybrook Ferry at 4 o'clock - little past, arrived home nearly 9.
Sat Oct 7 Afternoon took a ride to the PO & back with my ÒTinyÓ Tim.
Mon Oct 9 Bell went to Hamburgh.
Tue Oct 10 Took the baby & went to ride up to the Sourgham Mill.
Wed Oct 11 Afternoon took a ride to Emery Gates & spent the afternoon.
Thur Oct 12 Went to Hamburgh with my pony, like him very well.
Sat Oct 14 Mother & I went to Aunt Emma's & spent the day. John Brockway buried, died in the Insane Retreat. Aged 44 years.
Mon Oct 16 We washed. Bell commenced to teach the District school in this place.
Tue Oct 17 Morning 2 o'clock Heber came home from N.Y., sick with Typhoid Fever, Oscar came with him.
Wed Oct 18 Evening Henry came home.
Thur Oct 19 Henry went to Hamburgh & back. Paid board to this time.
Mon Oct 23 Baby 8 months old. Mother 53 years old. Heber's wife had a son born. Heber very sick. Baby not well.
Wed Oct 25 Morning Heber had a (new) turn.
Thur Oct 26 Heber had another poor spell. Paid my board to this time.
Fri Oct 27 Heber failed fast and died about 7 o'clock P.M.
Sat Oct 28 Evening Henry came home.
Mon Oct 30 Morning Lewis came home. Funeral at 10 o'clock A.M. Mr Gill of Essex performed the services.
Tue Oct 31 Rained some, rained hard all night.
