August 1860

Wed Aug 1 I spent the afternoon at Caroline LaPlace's and the night with Harriet Tooker. Harriet and I took a walk over to the stores. Mr Sisson the merchant in the new store treated each of us to an orange.
Thu 2 Mr W.D. Brown came home sick.
Sat 4 Bell went down to Essex and called on Aunt Emeline she is boarding at Miss Wealthy Post's she came there last Monday night.
Sun 5 Geo. Warner, Cad LaPlace & some others called here.
Wed 8 I attended the Society at Capt.. Adin Tookers Henry came home with me. Found Aunt Emeline here when I reached home.
Thu 9 Uncle Wm & wife and Aunt Mary Ann spent the day here.
Fri 10 Aunt Emeline went back to Essex with her boys. I sewed at Mrs Adeline Brockway's in the afternoon. Mrs Jane Stevens lost her babe aged about 20 months.
Sat 11 Annett & Celia Brockway sailed in the Mary Atwater for N.Y. I received a letter from Mrs Lee & Lucia Ely.
Sun 12 Chad LaPlace, Bell and I went to Hamburgh to church. Mr James Ely preached. The funeral of Mrs Stevens little girl was attended this afternoon in the church.
Mon 13 Henry spent the eve here.
Wed 15 I went over to Aunt Emma's to assist her in sewing. Henry spent the eve there.
Fri 17 Aunt Emma & I attended a lecture in the new hall by MrStorer. Henry went home with me.
Mon 20 I came home from Uncle Wms in the morning. Washed some and knit some. Harriet Tooker is here at work.
Thu 23. Anna Brown died aged 20. I finished the jacket. Harriet, Ellen, Isabel, Richard Brockway and I took a sail to Deep River and back after which Harriet went home. Fri 24 Bell and I attended the funeral of Anna Brown.
Wed Aug 29 1860 Dunham Brown expired this morning at 1 o'clock aged 81 years.
Thu 30 Mother, Father, Bell and I attend W.D. Browns funeral this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr E. Burr preached the funeral sermon.
Fri Afternoon 31 Mother and I went to Essex and back.
