September, October 1860

Mon 3 Henry spent the eve here.

Wed 5 The Union Society met here. A full attendance as usual.

Thu 6 In the afternoon I went over to Hamburgh to Lucy Ann's. Henry spent the eve there and about 10 o'clock a dispatch came informing us that Uncle Ansel was drowned. Mrs Jim Bugrie poisoned herself.

Sat Sep 7 I attended Uncle Ansel's funeral in the afternoon. His remains were brought up on the boat this morning, he was drowned last Tuesday. In what way he was drowned remains yet unknown. He was 46 years old.

Sun 8 Oscar came home in the morning. Henry spent the evening here, he brought me some peaches.

Tue 10 Henry called in the evening, he has a hard cold.

Sat Eve 15 Expected Henry here to spend the night, but hear he has gone home sick with a cold. He went home wednesday night.

Wed 19 Henry spent the eve here.

Sat Eve 22 Henry spent the night here.

Sun 23 Towards night Henry & I went down and called on George Warner. He has been sick with the fever but is better, Carlos has had a fever also.

Mon 24 Ellen & Lizzie Hughes went away last Tuesday in the sloop New World for N.Y. they have been there and got a load, and to-night went up by with a fair wind. Maria Watrous is married to a man from Wis. by the name of Henry W. Wright. Jane Albee is also married to a Mr Horton Langdon of Chester. Mr Curtis Peck died last Saturday.

Tue 25 Mrs Lee of Hartford & Mrs Palmer of Ohio landed from the boat this afternoon in the rain and remained here a while then went to Mr Wood's to spend the night.

Fri Oct. 5 Henry came after me in the evening and I went to Lyme with him to make a visit, his Mother & Father left home for Plainville

Tue 9 Mr Merit Comstock and wife, Henry and I went on board the City of Hartford to go to Plainville. Arrived in Hartford the next day at between 10 & 11 went to the Trumbull housend remained till towards 4 then took the cars to Plainville where we arrived before dark.

Thu 11 Took a ride to Farmington in the morning then the cars back to Hartford, Henry and I left Mr Comstock and wife in Plainville, stopped at the Trumbull house till about 3 then went on board the Granite State and arrived at Lyme Hotel not far from 9 o'clock in the evening.

Mon 15 Henry went back to Hamburgh and I went home with his sister.

Tue night 16 Mr Comstock and wife came home with me, I found Oscar home.

Wed 17 Society at Mrs LaPlaces.

Thu 18 Gilbert LaPlace & Emma Lord married.

Sat 20 Died a son of Mr & Mrs Orin Miner aged 10 months, first and only child.

Wed Oct 31 The Society met at Mrs L. Anderson's. Hester Wood & James Raymond were married in the afternoon at 3 o'clock
