July 1860

Sun Jul 1 1860 Antoinette Brockway & Marrena Williams called here in the evening. Henry Lord & Alden Cone spent the evening here.
Mon 2 I sewed for Antoinette in the afternoon.
Tue 3 A pleasant, but rained some in the evening. Amos Lord came after me about 9 and Henry & I went to Lyme Ferry to his fathers at the Hotel.
Wed 4 About 9 Henry & I went on board the schooner Doretha(Rhan) and went to Sag Harbor with a party of 142. Ellen, Isabel, Heber & Oscar went too. We arrived in Sag Harbor about 2 P.M. and remained there about an hour then returned to Lyme which place we reached in the evening. Mr Pierson, Miss Sarah Harden, Henry & I took a ride in Sag Harbor & had a very pleasant time. We went into a saloon & had some ice cream &c. In the morning Henry, his sister Sarah & I went onto the hill to see a buffalo which was there. Mrs Elsie Ely was buried.
Thu 5 It rained some, so we spent the most of the day at the Hotel. We crossed in the ferry boat twice, had oysters &c. Came home in the evening.
Fri 6 Went up to Antoinettes and sewed in the afternoon.
Sat 7 Went up to Antoinette's again . Mother received a letter from Aunt Emeline.
Sun 8 Lauristin Mack spent the evening here. Gib & Cad called.
Mon 9 Oscar took the boat for Hartford.
Wed 11 I went over to Aunt Mary Ann's to the Society. Stayed all night, Henry tarried after the rest were gone.
Thu 12 Aunt Mary Ann & I went down to Aunt Emma's and spent the afternoon.
Fri 13 I came home in the morning - found Mr Bayles here from Long Island. I went up to Antoinette's and sewed in the afternoon.
Sat 14 Mother went to Essex. I helped Ellen make her calico dress and baked some. Carlos Warner and John Damon spent the evening here.
Sun 15 Ellen, Bell and I went to Hadlyme to meeting. Bell and I came directly home after meeting, but Ellen stayed to attend the concert at 1/2 past 5. Mr Jones a stranger preached. Lauristin Mack came home with Ellen in the evening. Geo Warner & Henry Lord spent the evening here. Joseph Phelps & Hattie Gates were married this eve.
Tue 17 Mother & I spent the afternoon at Mrs Angeline Warner's with Mrs David Warner & Mrs Maria Emmerson. Maria spent the night here.
Thu 19 Kate Brockway spent the forenoon and part of the afternoon here. Harriet Tooker landed from the L. Boardman she took tea here. Gilbert LaPlace & Emma Lord were here to tea also.
Sun 22. Mother, Ellen & Isabel went to Centerbrook to church and I kept house. Henry spent the eve here.
Mon 23 Rainy. I sewed.
Wed 25 The annual meeting of the Joshuatown Union Sewing Society was held to-day at Mrs R. L. LaPlaces & I attended. during the past year we have had 85 members. Taken $70.00 in to the Society and are the owners of 100 volumes of books and about $10. left to spent for that purpose. Henry came home with me.
Sat 28 In the morning (Sl---tarch) Brockway took Antoinette & I up to Deep Rivein a boat and we went to Mrs Thomas Dixon's and spent the day & night.
Sun 29 We attended church in the morning to the Baptist & afternoon to the Congregational. towards night Geo Warner & Henry Lord called for us and came home with us. Mrs Johnson, Georgie Warner's grandmother was buried.
