
Tue Aug 1 Pleasant. I ironed during the morning and part of the afternoon. Mother & Henry came home to-night and Eddie went back with Loss. Mother brought home some whortleberries she picked. Belle not very well to-night.
Wed Aug 2 Warm. Grand Lyme picnic, the baby is better, but I would not leave her to go, am rather disappointed about it. Henry went to Hamburgh & back.
Thu Aug 3 A warm day. Henry & I went up the cove green graping and had good luck. Seeded some to-night.
Fri Aug 4 Very warm, some showers. Canned some green grapes and made some into preserves. Henry & Archie went to Hamburgh & back.
Sat Aug 5 Showery. Mother & I sewed for Bell. Very warm.
Sun Aug 6 warm. Henry went to Hamburgh to church this P.M. & Nett came home with him to go to Middletown with us tomorrow.
Mon Aug 7 Warm. Mother, Nett, Baby Belle & I went to Middletown & back on the Silver Star. We stopped at the new Oakum dock below Mrs Damon's now. Belle is 6 months old today & weighs 17 1/2 lbs. Had some pictures taken of her. We spent the day at Mrs (Leets), had a nice time. Henry & Archie kept house. We arrived in Middletown at 8 A.M. and home at 9 P.M., found our house work all done up.
Tue Aug 8 A warm showery day. Mother & I sewed.
Wed Aug 9 Pleasant. Mr David Warner died at 2 o'clock A.M. aged 73 years. Mother & I washed. Henry went to Saybrook. Belle cut her first tooth.
Thu Aug 10 Warm. Henry returned home from Saybrook & Lyme this P.M. 2 o'clock and then attended Mr David Warner's funeral.
Fri Aug 11 Warm. Mother and I sewed.
Sat Aug 12 A very warm day. This P.M. Loss, Ellen & Frankie came down with Edna & Eddie. Edna's school closed yesterday. Henry went to Hamburgh & back, received a letter from Belle.
Sun Aug 13 Not quite as warm. Morning Henry, Edna, Archie & I attended church in Hamburgh, went over & back in a boat. Mother took care of Belle.
Mon Aug 14 Warm. Henry & Archie went to Hartford & back on the Silver Star. Mrs Emery Gates, Mrs Carlos Warner & Mrs Adrian Tooker took tea here. We washed in the forenoon.
Tue Aug 15 Cloudy, rained little. Carrie Allyn Barber a daughter born.
Wed Aug 16 Pleasant. Henry came up with Sarah & little Ernest, they spent the afternoon here. Henry went back with her and is going to Long Island fishing with Willie.
Fri Aug 17 Pleasant. Edna, baby & I went to Centerbrook to Father Lord's & spent the afternoon. We had Mrs Post's team.
Sat Aug 18 Pleasant. I finished off Edna's white dress, Belle came home this evening, Mr Hamilton came with her and came by way of the Valley Road.
Sun Aug 20 Cooler. Henry came home without catching a fish.
Mon Aug 21 Warm. We washed. Henry went to Hartford & back on the Valley Rail Road for the first time.
Tue Aug 22 We ironed in the forenoon. Helped Bell sew during the afternoon. A third daughter born to Ellen.
Wed Aug 23 Cloudy some. A clam picnic from this place in Saybrook, did not go. Mr Hamilton & Belle went to Moodus and spent the day.
Thu Aug 24 Mr Hamilton & Henry went to Hamburgh & back. Loss came down & Edna went home with him. Cut a waterproof for Belle.
Fri Aug 25 Mr Hamilton & Henry went to Saybrook & back. Finished off Belle's waterproof.
Sat Aug 26 Mr Hamilton left for Waterbury. Henry went to Hartford and back via Valley Road. News came of the loss of Capt. (--over) & his ship Lodones, with a loss of 20 lives, Harry Morgan among the No.
Sun Aug 27 Very windy. Loss came home with Edna & Mother went back with him.
Mon Aug 28 Warm. We washed. Henry went to Lyme & back. Willie is sick at Sarah's. Capt. Mather Chadwick died in Old Lyme.
Tue Aug 29 Windy, rained hard this morning. We did a large ironing. I made some Black cake.
Wed Aug 30 A showery day. Loss brought Mother home from East Haddam. Ellen's baby's name is Lucy Lynn. Augusta Ely Anderson came here.
Thu Aug 31 Pleasant. Henry, Aunt Belle, Archie & I went to Hartford & back via Valley Railroad. Left baby with Mother & Edna.
