Fri Feb 2 Pleasant in the morning, cloudy the rest of the day. from school I came home and Maria Watrous came home with me, we came across the river in a boat, there was a little ice a running in the river and it was blocked in some on the east side. Harriet Tooker was here at work.
Sat Feb 3 Was a cold day at night Harriet Tooker went home. Maria and I called at Harriet LaPlaces. After I came home I commenced me a pair of stockings.
Sun Feb 4 Was a cold day, in the evening Maria and I went to singing school. John Elliot Ely came home with us.
Mon Feb 5 It snowed in the morning some. Maria and I went down to Essex in the morning.
Tue Feb 6 A cold day. Rebecca commenced to go to school. I commenced to study French, after tea I went up to Eliza Sweets to spend the night. The Thermometer in the morning stood at 4 degrees below zero.
Wed Feb 7 The Thermometer stood at 14 degrees below zero. I went to school at night it snowed and I went to Philenda's.
Thu Feb 8 It snowed all day. I went to school, was but a few scholars there.
Fri Feb 9 It snowed all day and was very bad walking. I went to school, Mr Lyon carried me to Mrs.. Williamss from school in a sleigh.
Sat Feb 10 Was a clear pleasant day over head. I went to the Dentists in the morning and he filled three teeth for me. One in two places. I came home at night and found the snow quite deep. I came across the river on the ice. My teeth ached some and I retired as soon as dark.
Sun Feb 11 Was a cloudy day clear in the morning & evening. Towards night Heber carried me down to Mrs.. Tiley's in a sleigh.
Mon Feb 12 A pleasant day. I went to school. Capt. Watrous and Jane Doane spent the evening at Mrs Tiley's.
Wed Feb 14 It was cloudy in the forenoon, in the afternoon rained, went to Philenda's from school. Played checkers in the evening.
Thu Feb 15 A rainy day, went to P's again after school finished working Mrs Tucker's undersleeves.
Fri Feb 16 A cloudy day, the sun shone out once or twice but went in again almost as soon as it came out. I had a composition on "The Drunken Captain." I carried Mrs T's sleeves home in the morning and received .66 1/4 cts. for embroidering them. Came up to Mrs Tiley's from school, went to meeting in the evening over to the school house. Mr Bailey preached, found Oscar there and came home with him from meeting. Miss Jeanette (D---ay) was married last night to a Mr Herde.
Sat Feb 17 Another cloudy day - sewed a little in the morning - the sun popped out once or twice then popped back again.
Sun Feb 18 A pleasant day. I wrote a letter to Martha Kirkland, received one yesterday from Hester Wood. In the evening I went to singing school.
Wed Feb 21 A pleasant day. I went to school - had a hard cold so went to Phil... and spent the night.
Fri Feb 23 It snowed about all the forenoon - cleared off in the afternoon. I went to school, at night when I got up to Mrs Tiley's I found Oscar there and came home with him. Emily came home she has been gone 4 or 5 weeks.
Sat Feb 24 A cold day. I helped Mother sew. Heber made me a present of a new Delaine dress. Ellen went to the Drs. and had a tooth taken out the first she ever extracted.
Sun Feb 25 Another cold day. I wrote a letter to Martha Hinman.
Tue. Feb 27 A cold day, wtih a snow squall in the morning. I went to school it was dismissed for afternoon on account of the funeral of Mary Charlotte Bushnell who died of consumption Sunday morning in the 16 year of her age. I attended the funeral. Mr. Stone the Episcopal minister performed the sevices.
Wed Feb 28 A pleasant day. I went to school, at night went to Philenda's and in the evening we went to the Society at Capt. James Lord's - quite a good time we had.Return to Home Page, Diary Index, January, or March
