Thu Mar 1 a very pleasant day. I went to school at night went up to Mrs Tiley's, and in the evening I went into Mrs Brockway's room and we made molasses candy. I lost my ring in it but found it again. Eliza Williams and Miss Gates were there.
Fri Mar 2 Another pleasant day. Had a composition on The landing of the Pilgrims - came home at night. Irene Pratt and L) W came up with me, we came across the river on the ice.
Sat Mar 3 It was cloudy most of the day. I went up to Mrs (Ann) Bannings in the morning and had my dress cut. In the afternoon I went over to Hamburgh. Harriet Tooker went with me over to Kates and in the evening we went to singing - they are going to have a concert. Came home from singing school - called to Aunt Mary Ann's when we went over and christened their door bell for her.
Sun Mar 4 Cloudy most of the day, the river broke up below here. I wrote a letter to Hester (Novel) New Britian.
Mon Mar 5 It was pleasant in the morning, but soon clouded up - went down in the morning to school. Irene went down with me, she spent the night with me last night. In the evening I went up to Eliza Williams'es, rained when I went home about 9 o'clock.
Tue Mar 6 Was a clear day, wind blew fresh. I went to school. Capt. Banning, Edwin Pratt, Harriet Gates and Heber spent the evening at Mrs Tiley's.
Wed Mar 7 It was cloudy most of the day. I went to school and went home with from school and spent the night. In the evening we went to the.
Thu Mar 8 Was a pleasant day. In the evening I went down to Alice Tiler's, after I got back to Mrs Tiley's I went into Mrs Brockway's and we made some molasses candy.
Fri. Mar 9 Cloudy most of the day, snowed a little in the morning. I went to school - came home from school - the river is quite clear of ice.
Sat Mar 10 Was a very windy day. Father went to Essex. Mother and I finished my dress. The ladies of this place met and organized a Sewing Society.
Sun Mar 11 A pleasant day. There was a meeting at the schoolhouse. Mr Chitenden preached, I did not go. I went to singing school in the evening.
Mon Mar 12 I left home in the morning for school, soon after I got to Essex it began to snow but soon stopped and about 9 o'clock it was very dark almost as dark as night and I could hardly see to study, in the evening there was northern lights. I went to Mrs T's from school.
Tue Mar 13 A cloudy day. I went to school. Left at recess to go to Hamburgh to a concert, but it began to rain and hail soon after I left, so I stopped to Capt. Watrous's and spent the night. Janie and Maria are both at home.
Wed Mar 14 Another cloudy day. In the evening Augustus Pratt was up and we made molasses candy.
Thu. Mar 15 A rainy day. I went to school, went to Philenda's & spent the night. Mr Justus Doane died last night, he had been failing for some time, he was 79 years old.
Fri. Mar 16 Was a cloudy day. I attended school - had a composition on Secret Societies - came home at night - on my way home I called to see the corpse. In the evening I attended the Society at Mrs (Orin) Bannings It is the first time they have met. Ellen and Oscar joined, I did not. Emma Warner came home with me from the Society. Mother received a letter from Mrs Lee some time this week and she wrote that her Mother died last Thanksgiving day night, she was 80 years old.
Sat Mar 17 A rainy day. Heber left home Friday to go a coasting with Uncle Ansel.
Sun Mar 18 It was cloudy most of the day, the snow melted some at night it had most all disappeared. Emma W went home in the morning. In the evening I went to singing school.
Thu Mar 22 It was cloudy in the morning, pleasant at night. I went up to Aunt Janies at noon. Mrs Morgan and Celia Pratt had gone to Fair Haven to attend the funeral of Cecclia Howard who died of the consumption last Tuesday.
Fri. Mar 23 Was a very windy day. I went to school, at night come home & Jane watrous came home with me. Eliza Williams came across the river with us and went up to Emma Warner's. Ellen went up to Caroline LaPlaces to spend the evening.
Sat Mar 24 Was another windy day. In the forenoon I commenced to work me a collar. In the afternoon Jane and I went up to Emma Warner's. Eliza Williams and Mary (Day) were there. Towards night we went down to Joshua Rocks and called down to Mr David Warner's. Jane and I called to Harriet LaPlaces and spent a part of the evening. Mrs Hungerford was there. I received a letter from Martha Hinman.
Sun Mar 25 It was cloudy most of the day and very windy. Jane and I calculated to go to Hamburgh to meeting but it was so unpleasant that we stayed at home, and in the evening we went to singing school, it is the last one.
Mon. Mar 26 It was cloudy most of the day, but the wind did not blow quite as hard as the day before. In the morning Jennie and I went to Essex. We sailed down to Long wharf in Father's new boat. I spent the night at Jennies. About dark Jane, Maria, and I called down to Philenda's, and in the evening, Maria & I called to Mrs Phillip Tucker's .
Tue. Mar 27 It was pleasant most of the day the wind blew quite hard. I went to school, at night I went up to Mrs Tiley's. Mother was there, Father came over in the evening. Emily Pratt of Deep River was there, also Kate Buckingham. In the evening Mr Frederick Pratt and wife, Mr Griswold and wife and Augustus Pratt was there and spent the evening.
Wed Mar 28 A cold day I went to school, and went to Philenda's from school in the evening we attended a Sabbath school festival in the Methodist Church, there was quite a number there.
Thu Mar 29 It was cloudy in the morning, but pleasant in the afternoon and evening. I went to school, as I was coming home from school Oscar overtook me, he had been to have his daguerrotype taken and was on his way home, so Maria Watrous and I came up and went to Mrs Harrison's to the Society there was a housefull there, we left about 9 for Essex where we arrived about 10 o'clock. It was a beautiful evening.
Fri. Mar 30 Was a very pleasant day. I went to school and went to Mrs Charles Brewster's from school to a carpet rag party. I spent the night to Jane Watrouses.
