February 1958

Wed Feb 3 Uncle Jacob, Aunt E and I attended a party at Mr Cooks.
Thu Feb 4 Uncle Jacob and Aunt Emeline went to Boston and spent the day and evening at Mrs Kruger's. James Lewis and I went over and spent the afternoon and evening with them. I received a letter from Mother and Bell. Oscar arrived home last Saturday evening.
Mon. eve Feb 8 Uncle J. and Aunt E. and I attended the Boston Theatre with Mr & Mrs Cook. The Revels performed. Then on our way home we called at Baker's saloon and had some oysters.
Thu Feb 11 It has been a bitter cold day. We all of us intended to go to West Cambrige to-day to visit at Capt.. Hopkins'es, but Uncle Jacob is not well and it being very cold we gave up the idea. About noon I thought I would go to East Boston and so prepared myself and went to the hourly office, I waited there till quarter past twelve for the hourly but it did not come and I went on foot. I found it quite cold on the bridge, but I reached Mr Bradford's safe in about an hour from the time that I left home. I returned to Chelsea in the evening and found MrsCragin & Willie here. I was weighed today and found I weighed the small amount of 145 lbs. Elsie Bradford weighed 122 lbs.
Fri Feb 12 It has been another cold day. I went to Dr. Wheeler's twice to day for Uncle Jacob and once to the apcothecaries. He went to West Cambrige in the afternoon and Aunt Emeline and James Lewis went with him. I concluded I would not go.
Mon Feb 22 It has been a busy day here to-day. Aunt E is going to sea with Uncle Jacob and moved on board the ship. She will take Frankie with her and her brother Charles & family have come here to take care of the other children and keep house. About 10 this morning Aunt Emeline & I went down to the stable to a carriage & went to East Boston & called on her Mother, then went to Charlestown where the ship lay and went on board. Everything looked nice and comfortable, and I wished I was going myself - I did talk of it but my parents did not wish me to go so I thought it best not to. I left the ship about one and returned to Chelsea and found Mrs Bradford there.
Tue 23 In the evening Miss Hart & I attended a surprise party in the vestry to the Baptist church given to Mrs Piersen a missionary woman. Miss Ann Hart is a sister of Mrs Bradford.
Fri Feb 26 Miss Hart & I attended a surprise party in Boston given to Eliza Andrews she lives on Prince St.
