February 1860

Wed Feb 1 It snowed the night before and some this morning. John Sterling carried me to and from school.
Thu Feb 2 John carried me to school and back and in the evening I attended a lecture in the Town Hall with John & his mother. the lecture was delivered by Mrs J. W. Currier on spiritualism, she delivered it in a trance state. The lecture was an excellent one.
Fri Feb 3 John carried me to school, after school I went home called at the Joshuatown school-house and heard Mrs Currier deliver another lecture. Carlos Warner escorted Ellen & I home.
Sat Feb 4 Ansel Ely came over in the morning. In the evening I attended a panorama at the school-house. Henry Lord escorted me home.
Sun Feb 5 Ansel went home at night. Henry remained at our house till towards night then came with me down to Uncle Wms. We came down on the river. Heber came down with us and went down to Lizzie Hughes.
Mon Feb 6 A stormy day in consequence of which I had but 5 pupils. Mrs Delia Hovey's babe one year of age was buried yesterday.
Tue Feb 7 went down to Mr Sterlings after school. In the evening called at Mr Leander Lord's. Received a letter from Mrs Lee
Wed Feb 8 The Bill Hill young people spent the eve at the Sterlings.
Thu Feb 9 I attended the Society in the evening at Mr Leander Lord's Fri Feb 10 Finished boarding at Mr Sterling's & came up to Uncle Wms found Aunt Rhoda here. Uncle Horace came up in the evening. A very windy day & cold.
Sat Feb 11 Mri. Henry Lord called in the evening his 21 birth day. I have had a hard cold all the week, but it is some better to-night.
Sun Feb 12 Heber called towartds night on his way to Lizzie Hughes. In the evening I went to Hadlyme with Henry Lords. We spent the evening at his Aunt Philenda Gateses. His Aunt Caroline Peck was there. We saw Mri. Edward Gates also. On our way back we called on Caroline LaPlace, Timothy Warner was there. It was 11 o'clock when we called there & we reached home at twelve. I wrote a letter to Lucia Hill Ely, Harriet Tooker and Abby Fuller.
Tue Feb 14 Henry Lord spend the evening here.
Wed Feb18 Was intending to spend the evening at Kate's but before I was ready to go it began to snow and continued to snow so that I did not go out.
Thu Feb 16 It snowed all night the night before and all day to day. Had but 8 scholars and dismissed my school at 1/2 past two. Judah H. Lord 10 years old.
Fri Feb 17 I walked home at night the walking was quite bad. Heber went home with me. The Joshuatown Benevolent Society met at Mrs Chapel's Heber went and Alden Cone came home with him and spent the
Sat Feb 18 Mr Cone went home in the morning. Heber went up to Deep River with Geo. Warner, Tim Warner and John damon.
Sun Feb 19 Henry Lord came over after me with a sleigh and brought me over to Hamburgh. It was very good sleighing we went down onto Bill Hill & back. Mr James Bill's youngest child was buried, Little Willie aged 4
Mon Feb 20 I commenced to board at Mr Ruben Lords.
Tue Feb 21 Mr Hulet Anderson & wife spent the evening at Mr
Wed Feb 22 I came up to Uncle Wms. from school to prepare to go to East Haddam to a Ball, but it rained and I did not go. Henry spent the evening here.
Thu Feb 23 Went to Mr Lords again after school.
Fri Feb 24 Spent the eve at Mr H Anderson's played cards.
Sat Feb 25 Came to Uncle Wms from school. Henry Lord called in the evening on his way to Lyme. I went up to the P.O. with Mrsi. Lucy Brockway, we rode round through the city, and I called at Mr Roberts'es & ordered a pair of shoes made.
Sun Feb 26 I walked home in the morning. Pitt went home with me. In the evening I called on Caroline Warner. Mary Stark was married to a Mr Clark.
Mon Feb 27 I commenced to board at Mr Horace
Tue Feb 28 Attended a leap year ball in East Haddam with Henry. Ellen went with us. There were three couples went from Joshuatown. It stormed after we finished dancing so we remained at the Gelston House till morning then came down. It still rained and the traveling was very bad. I did not reach Uncle Wms till after 10 o'clock so did not go to school.
