Wed Jul 2 George Warner and Eliza Williams visited my school in the afternoon & I went home with Eliza and took tea, after which I called at Mr Ralph Buckingham's and in the evening Kate, Maria, Eliza , George , Gib and I went down to the ice cream saloon .
Jul 4 Was a cloudy day - rained some. Harriet Tooker spent the afternoon and night with me. It has been the stillest 4 I ever yet witnessed, there was a squal towards night which came up so suddenly, as upset some boats that were out sailing, Joseph was in one that upset. Harriet, Heber and I called on Antoinette in the evening, she played and sang to us.
Sat Jul 5 Yesterday being a stormy day, it was not celebrated as much as usual and so there was a party went on an excursion in the Lockwood - also a picnic somewhere in the woods. It has been a pleasant day.
Mon Jul 7 I went down to Philenda's from school and spent the night. Her father's arm is improving slowly, he fell or rather piece of timber fell on to his arm in the ship yard and broke it a short time ago.
Mon Jul 14 I spent the night at Watrous'es, in the evening Jennie Watrous and I went to Chester with W.E.Williams. Jennie did not return with us.
Tue Jul 15 I commenced to board at Mr David Doanes. In the evening (Mirly) Bushnell, Betsy Bushnell and I went out to swing and I was introduced to Mr Stillman and Mr Gladwin.
Sun Jul 20 The wind blew quite hard. Harriet LaPlace, Emma Warner, Heber and I went to Hadlyme to church, we went up the cove in a boat and went to hear Mr Harris preach in the forenoon and Mr Hillard in the afternoon, we took tea at Mr Joseph Warner's and went to church in the evening and witnessed the marriage of Pamela Mack to Charles Warner.
Fri. Jul 25 Mrs Ansel Luther died. George Wilson, the negro hung.
Sun Jul 27 A very warm day. I went to Deep River with Carlos Warner to attend church but it was so uncomfortably hot, that we did not go but a half a day. In the evening we went a riding.
Thu Jul 31 Mr Tryon died, aged 77 years.
