Tue Jul 1 Forenoon we washed. Afternoon quilted. Received a letter from Henry.
Wed Jul 2 Mailed my 20th letter to Henry. Morning went to Hamburgh. Afternoon finished off Ellen's quilt. Ben (Lew----) & Margaret Comstock married.
Thu Jul 3 Sewed forenoon. Afternoon cut Nell B a dress, after which we went up to Mrs. Tim Warners and called. Bell came home, Ellen went to East Haddam. Emery Gates and Harriet Tooker married.
Fri Jul 4 Tacked comfortable on the forenoon. Afternoon sewed and called at Mrs. LaPlace's and Ellen Brockway's with Bell.
Sat Jul 5 1862 Warm day. Made a pair of pants for Lewis in the morning, afternoon sewed at Nell's. Mr. and Mrs. Lord called. Mailed my 21st letter to Henry.
Sun Jul 6 Very warm. Bell & I went to Pleasant Valley to dedication, rode home. Temperature 94o above zero in the shade.
Mon Jul 7 Warm again. Washed.
Tue Jul 8 Very warm. Mailed my 22nd letter to Henry. Afternoon Ellen quilted a comfortable.
Wed Jul 9 Attended Society at Mrs. H. Warner's. Amos Lord spent the night here.
Thu Jul 10 Mother & I partly papered my room. Afternoon went to Essex & brought me home some cherries.
Fri Jul 11 Finished cleaning my room.
Sat Jul 12 Sewed. Leora called. I called on Mrs. Hungerford.
Sun Jul 13 Pleasant, but warm. Am not very well.
Mon Jul 14 Washed and sewed, mailed my 23rd letter to Henry.
Tue Jul 15 Sewed. Received 5 letters and 8 papers from Henry.
Wed Jul 16 Mailed my 24th letter to Henry. Sewed at Mrs. E.G.C. Brockway's. Took a ride with her to Hamburgh towards night. Mother spent the afternoon at Capt.. Tiffiany's.
Thu Jul 17 Sewed on my blue silk.
Fri Jul 18 Sewed on my dress. A daughter born to Mrs. Rainer. Mrs. John Morgan buried.
Sat Jul 19 Sewed on my dress again.
Sun Jul 20 Not very pleasant.
Mon Jul 21 1862 We washed. Worked at Mrs. B's part of the afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. James Ely, Uncle Horace, Aunt Rhoda and George Ely spent the afternoon here. Mailed my 25th letter to Henry.
Tue Jul 22 Forenoon finished my blue dress, made a pair of pillow cases. Afternoon Mr. Andrews came after me and I came to Essex to see Aunt Eliza. Called at Philenda's in the evening. Received a paper from Henry.
Wed Jul 23 Had a very pleasant visit with Aunt Eliza, intended to come home at night, but it rained which prevented me.
Thu Jul 24 Mailed my 26th letter to Henry. Mr. Andrews brought me home in the morning. I arrived home at 8 A.M. Afternoon called on Mrs. Adeline and Mrs. Hannah Brockway. ( Heiren) Brockway broke his wrist yesterday. Received 2 papers from Henry & letter from Louise Strickland Mother went over to Aunt Mary Anns and spent the afternoon.
Fri Jul 25 Went over to Mrs. Landruses and sewed. Called at Mr. Richard Buckingham's. Oscar went to East Hampton. Sterling went up at night.
Sat Jul 26 Finished working me a sun bonnet. Dexter called and brought me a letter from Henry. Father went to Hamburgh and brought me home 3 more from him. I mailed my 27th letter to him. Oscar came home.
Sun Jul 27 Pleasant, did not go to church.
Mon Jul 28 We washed. I made a sheet. At 1/2 past 4 o'clock P.M. started for Aunt Mary Ann's, called at Mrs. Chapel's found Marion and Caroline home. Called at Mrs. Mehitable LaPlaces. Reached Aunt Mary Ann's before dark.
Tue Jul 29 Spent the day with Aunt Mary Ann, quite pleasantly. Shower in the afternoon, after which we walked down to the P.O. I received 2 papers from Henry. Mr. Raymond died. Wed Jul 30 1862 Very hard shower the night before. Afternoon Aunt M. A & I went up to Mrs. Brown's and called, she has sprained her ankle very bad. Left for home at 3 o'clock P.M., called Albert Tooker's, Rosewell LaPlace, Wm Brockway's - Mrs. Frank LaPlace to see Mrs. Davis & Mrs. Chapel's, reached home dark. Dr. Thornton & Celia Pratt married.
Thu Jul 31 Mr. Elisha Miller died. Marion Rogers and Leora Chapel spent the afternoon here. I received two letters from Henry.
