July 1870

Fri July 1 Henry returned home in S. Star. Did not rain. Bell came home from Moodus.

Sat July 2 Went to Celia's a little while in morning & to Essex for cherries in A.M. Went to Aunt Eliza's.

Sun July 3 A cool & misty day. Went up to school house to a 5 o'clock meeting held by Mrs Matthew's son & Bill Taylor, principally - went in to (-------) to see Laura and her baby.

Mon July 4 Pleasant day. Went to Loyd LaPlaces picnic in Birch grove. Mr Bradley of (Chertin) made a speech. Called up to Zebulon Warner's.

Tue July 5 Henry went to Saybrook with the team. Rained little in the morning.

Wed July 6 Pleasant. washed. Willie & Henry came up about noon in a boat after Archie & I, and we went to Lyme with them. Called at Aunt Eliza's & saw Mrs Bailey and Aunt Sull there.

Thur July 7 Pleasant. Henry went out Black fishing, but did not get any.

Fri July 8 Rained & blew very hard last night and some this A.M. To-night Henry, Archie & I took a ride onto the beach.

Sat July 9 Pleasant. We came home to-night, found Miss Hattie Emmons here with Bell.

Sun July 10 Bell & Miss Emmons went to church.

Mon July 11 Henry went to Hartford. Mrs Tiley came here to-night from Mrs Post's. Showers during the night.

Tue July 12 A warm day. Mrs Tiley returned to Mrs Post's to-night.

Wed July 13 Another warm day. Henry came home on the Star at midnight and returned to Hartford again this morning at 5:15.

Fri July 15 1870 Another warm day. Henry came home on Star at 1/2 past 10, soon after Nettie arrived with a dispatch for him to go to New Haven tomorrow.

Sat July 16 Henry went to New Haven. A warm day.

Sun July 17 A very warm day. Henry came home to-night.

Mon July 18 Another warm day. Henry went to Hartford on the Star. Ellen & Millie came down this P.M. Mother went home with them. Had a shower this P.M., but it did not cool the air much.

Tue July 19 A warm day. I ironed some & sewed some.

Wed July 20 Not as warm, cloudy to-night and looks like rain.

Thur July 21 A foggy morning, cleared off warm again.

Fri July 22 Warm. Ellen came home this P.M. with Mother & Edna went back with her. Made a vest for Henry.

Sat July 23 A very warm day as usual. Made a coat for Henry.

Sun July 24 A warm day.

Mon July 25 Still another warm day.

Tue July 26 A warm day. Bell & Edna came home on the Star at 15 minutes to 2 this A.M. Bell's school closed last Saturday. Henry went to Saybrook.

Wed July 27 Henry & his father came up and I went back to Lyme with them. Nettie Tooker Ely spent the afternoon here.

Thur July 28 Rained very little. Henry went to Saybrook & back.

Fri July 29 Warm. Henry went to Saybrook.

Sat July 30 Warm. Henry went to Saybrook again & I sewed.

Sun July 31 Willie & Vettie came home with us in a boat.
