Tue May 1 A cloudy day. I ironed some. Mother was sick.
Wed May 2 A pleasant day. In the afternoon I went up to Matilda LaPlaces and called, and called on Eliza at the school-house after school, then went to Mrs Frank LaPlaces and took tea. Mrs Jonathan LaPlace, Harriet and Ann Austin were there.
Thu May 3 A pleasant day. We washed in the forenoon, in the afternoon I sewed. The steamer "Cricket" went on an excursion to Hartford.
Fri May 4 Pleasant. In the forenoon Mother and I cleaned house. At night I went to Essex went down in a sail boat with Father and Oscar as far as Ely's ferry and walked the rest of the way to Philenda's in the evening we went to Meadowwoods to meeting. Mr Gallup preached. After meeting we went to Celia Prattıs and spent the night as she was alone.
Sat May 5 It was cloudy some and the wind blew fresh. In the morning Philenda went to the Milliners with me and I got my hat trimmed blue outside and white in. Then I went to Philenda's and took dinner, after dinner came up to Mrs Tiley's and stayed till night then came home. They were making wedding cake.
Sun May 6 A pleasant day at night I went down to Mrs Tiley's and rode from there to the Congregational Church with Mr Asa Brockway and wife to witness the marriage of Mr David Young and Emily Tiley. From there I went to the house, they made no wedding, but a few came in. I came home with Louisa Post and spent the night.
Mon May 7 It was pleasant most of the day. I helped Mother wash at night finished working my handkerchief.
Thu May 10 A pleasant day, in the morning I walked over to Hamburgh - went to Aunt Rhoda's and took dinner then went to Lucy Anns to the Society, there was between 20 & 30 there. I spent the night with Kate.
Fri May 11 Another pleasant day. I spent the day to Aunt (Oraces) Victoria Hinman is visiting there. At night I went down to Uncle Williams Victoria went with me.
Sat May 12 A pleasant day in the morning Vici and I took a walk down to the old burying ground. In the afternoon I came up to the stores, found Mrs Eliza Brockway there and rode over as far as with her, where I took tea, then came home.
Sun May 13 A warm day. I went to meeting. Mr Chitenden preached at night Betsy Beebe, Eliza Williams and Marion Chapel called here.
Tue May 15 A warm day. Mother went up to Mrs Abby Phelps'es and spent the day. Mrs Buckingham died last night.
Wed May 16 A pleasant day. In the afternoon Mother went to MrsBuckingham's funeral, ti was held at 3 o'clock, her age was 56 yrs.
Fri May 18 A pleasant day. I cleaned my bedroom in the forenoon in the afternoon I sewed.
Mother cleaned some. I received a letter from Abby Fuller at night Lavina Phelps & Eliza Williams called here.
Sat May 19 It was pleasant in the morning, cloudy about noon and during the afternoon and night it rained very hard. Mother and Lewis went over to Aunt Mary Anns and spent the day and night.
Sun May 20 Was a cloudy day rained some. Mother came home in the morning.
Mon May 21 A pleasant day. We washed.
Tue. May 22 A pleasant day. Mother made soap.
Thu May 24 It was cloudy most of the day. Hester Wood called here she took the Cricket for New London. Harriet Tooker was here and took dinner in the afternoon we went to MrsFrank LaPlaces to the Society. I joined. In the evening it thundered and lightened and after I got home there was a shower.
Sat May 26 A pleasant day. Mother received a letter from Mrs Lee. She (Mother) went up to Mrs Czarina LaPlaces and spent the afternoon.
Sun May 27 Was a windy day but warm. I went to meeting. At night Caroline Warner, Harriet LaPlace and Caroline, Marion Chapel and Leora, and Cecelia Davis called down here.
Tue May 29 A plasant day. Heber came home he brought me 4 pieces of music, The Wanderer, Over the Summer Sea, Come while the moon light beams and My canoe is on the Ohio. In the afternoon I went over to Hamburgh to the store. I called to Jonathan LaPlaces, Harriet Tooker's and Aunt Mary Ann. Harriet Tooker went over to the store with me, she received a letter from Harriet Birdsey, she also showed me a leter that she received from Mich. last week.
Wed May 30 A pleasant day. Mrs Czarina LaPlace and Mother went on board "Cricket" to go to Hartford.
Thu May 31 It was cloudy most of the day, but warm. I baked some in the morning in the afternoon sewed.
