Tue May 1 Mrs Warner, Mrs C & Mrs N LaPlace spent the afternoon here and we cut out blocks for the Society. I spent the evening at Annies.
Wed 2 Election day. Caroline LaPlace & Mary Lay spent the afternoon here and helped Ellen finish off her bed-quilt. Bell went to Essex. Dr. F. Sheperd died aged 48.
Thu 3 Called on Cad LaPlace & we went and took a walk with Mary Lay
Fri 4 Henry & I went up to Whittlesey's but did not stop as the concert had closed. Mrs James Gates died.
Sat 5 Pleasant. Ellen came home from a visit to Hamburgh.
Sun 6 Mr Lauristin Mack spent the eve here, and took Ellen out a riding. I retired about 9.
Mon 7 We washed. I sewed some.
Tue 8 I ironed in the forenoon, and in the afternoon commenced to knit on some net for Mr Beebe. Thunder shower towards night. Evening Joseph Hayden & Louise Johnson married.
Wed 9 I knit all day, from 5 o'clock A.M. to 7 P.M. knit about 24 yards.
Thu 10 Ellen Brockway spent the afternoon here, and I went up street with her when she went home, called on Celia Brockway & Caroline LaPlace. Celia has the Quinsy. I received a letter from Aunt Emeline
Fri 11 Eliza Williams took dinner here & I went with her to Mrs Henry LaPlaces and spent the afternoon. Mary Wms spent the day and night here.
Sat 12 I knit. A pleasant day.
Sun 13 Another pleasant day. New World & Mary Atwater went by. Henry spent the evening here.
Mon 14 I knit. Mother went to Essex & back.
Tue 16 We washed. I called on Antoinette towards night & C. Laplace & Emma Warner.
Thu 17 Mrs Cary left Aunt Mary Ann's & Mrs Alice Ely came there. Mr Daniels called in the evening &Henry Lord spent the evening with me.
Fri 18 Aunt Mary Ann went down to Miss Mary Russels and spent the afternoon. Towards night I went down to the stores with Cad LaPlace.
Sat 19 It rained in the morning, but was pleasant in the afternoon. The new store was raised in the afternoon. I came home at night.
Sun 20 Henry spent the evening, we called on Antoinette. Johnny Comstock & Secora Chapel called there. Henry made me a present of a ring &
Mon 21 We washed. Mr Josiah Morgan died.
Tue 22 I received a letter from Mrs Lee and one from Oscar. Mother went to Hamburgh.
Wed 23 Mr Morgan was buried. Mother came home at night.
Thu 24 Ellen, Isabel & I went down to Mrs Anderson's to the Union Society, left there at 9 in the evening and came up to Antoinette's to another one and stayed till about 12 then came home.
Fri 25 Ellen went to Essex & Isabel to Hamburgh. I knit some and sewed some,
Joe Warner & Lib, Antoinette Brockway, Susan Treat, & Abeline Pratt called here in the evening.
Sat 26 Shower in the afternoon. I knit
Sun 27 Cloudy - Ellen LaPlace callled here towards night, Saw Mr Williams and brother Tom cross the river, presume they are going to call on Antoinette Brockway. I retired before 9 in the evening after having passed a long Sunday at home.
Mon 28 So unpleasant that we did not wash, so I knit some and finished off a shirt for Heber.
Tue 29 We washed. I received a letter from Harriet Tooker. John Damon came up the river to-day, he said the New World was ashore in Cow bay. She ran onto a rock last Thursday night and to prevent her sinking they put her ashore, she was loaded with coal.
Wed 30 I ironed some & knit some.
Thu 31 I expected company, but it was unpleasant so they did not come.
