October to December 1956

Wed Oct 15 I attended the Hunt in the evening with Albert Williams. Cornelia Lord and Edwin Pratt were married.
Sat Oct 18 Philenda Williams, Philippi Doane, and Harry Morgan spent the day here. We took a walk down to Joshua rocks, and came up in a boat with Carlos Warner, William Lamson & John Damon.
Thu Oct 23 I went to Colchester to a Fremont mass meeting with Gilbert LaPlace.
Sat Oct 25 In the evening I went over to Hamburgh and heard Dr. Olde deliver a lecture.
Fri. Oct 31 I went to Hambur
gh in the evening and heard Ex Gov. Cleveland deliver a lecture assisted by Mr Barnet.
Thu Nov 4 The great battle is to be fought to day over 40 majority for Fremont in this town.
Fri Dec 14 The Hon. James Buchanan is to be our next President. New England went for Fremont but the majority of the United States went for Buchanan. This evening there was a singing school. Mr Holmes teacher.
Christmas A deep snow on the ground. I went to a Christmas party in the evening with John Elliott, at Mr Orin Bannings. Mother received a paper from Mrs Lee announcing the death of her only child George he was 5 years, 3 months, and 17 days old.
