Sarah married Merritt Comstock who served during the Civil War as a 2nd Lieutenant in Co. C 26th Regt. Infantry from Old Lyme. He enlisted 16 Aug 1862 with Amos and Dexter Lord. Mustered 10 Nov 1862, discharged 17 Aug 1863. His occupation is listed on Old Lyme vital records as carpenter. He had Sarah had at least six children as noted by E.E. Lord in her journals. Sarah apparently survived him as she was living in Centerbrook with her parents when William John Lord died. Old Lyme records note that she purchased a burial plot in the new section of the Duck River Cemetery. There is there a single stone for M. Adelbert Comstock son of Merritt A. and Sarah J. Comstock. The stone suggest he was born in 1853!!!. Not likely Merritt and Sarah were married then. A mystery to be solved. Merritt and William John Lord had some real estate dealings.

Old Lyme vital records list her as Sally J. Lord. She was 18 at the time of her marriage making her born in 1840.
